The Midtown Mall Walk is a local series of run/walk fundraising events that give proceeds to local community based organizations. On October 22 the walk will come to Richland Mall in support of Project Think Pynk, a South Carolina non-profit organization that supports healthy lifestyle initiatives for women and girls. Funds raised from the walk will be used to help Project Think Pynk provide Cranial prostheses for women that have experienced hair loss as a result of chemotherapy. In addition to boosting cancer survivors’ self esteem, these custom made wigs also help protect disease-weakened immune systems from the sun, and regulate body temperature.
Early registration for the walk will run until October 15 with registration fees at $20 for participants age 12 and up and $10 for those under 11. After October 15 fees will be $25 for participants 12 years and up and $15 for 11 and under. Each registrant can nominate a cancer survivor to receive a FREE glamour hair system and all participants will receive an official race day t-shirt.
The walk will begin at 8am and consist of an Outdoor 5k walk (overall woman, man & wheelchair) and an Indoor 1k walk (overall woman and man).
The beneficiaries of the cranial prosthesis and the winners of the glamour makeover will be announced at the end of the walk. Additional prizes will be awards to winners of the outdoor 5k and indoor 1k.
This event is perfect for the entire family and people of all fitness levels.
